Acid house is a subgenre of house music which originated during the 1980's and was created by chicago based dj's. It would later spread to the uk and european rave scenes. Acid house took a minimalist approach to house musics 4x4 beat structure and was characterised by its use of squelchy sounding “acid” basslines produced on the roland tb-303 synthesizer.
